Mornings Matter - Mathias Norsgaard
They say your home says a lot about who you are. If that’s true, then this space speaks volumes. On the top floor of a quiet building in Aarhus, with sloping ceilings, a wide open kitchen, books stacked to the brim, and a smiley-faced lamp glowing softly in the corner, lives professional cyclist and podcast host, Mathias Norsgaard. And yes, there’s an entire room dedicated to his bikes.
A Space That Reflects a Mindset
But the most important space in Mathias’ life isn’t physical - it’s his morning.
“I don’t want to feel rushed. I need two hours in the morning,” he says. “Sure, I could do it all in 45 minutes. But I choose not to.”
He wakes naturally - no alarm, no urgency. The first thing he does is step outside to pick up freshly baked rolls from Berta, his local bakery. It’s not just about the food - it’s about starting the day with light and movement. Back home, he boils eggs, drinks lots of water, and makes coffee - but only after an hour has passed. It’s all part of a rhythm he’s shaped over time. He might read a magazine or a book - Euroman, Søren Stiller’s writing on coffee, or even something heavier, like a piece by Anders Fogh Rasmussen. The mood should be calm, curious. A quiet way to spark the day.
