How one consultant treats sleep, food, and movement like a football team.
Meet Rikke Jensen - she works at one of the big consulting firms, is a dedicated runner, a natural early bird - and a former “stomach cramp patient” who knows firsthand what it means to be out of balance. Based in Frederiksberg with roots in Hillerød, she juggles a demanding career, training, an engagement, and an active social life - without compromising on either energy or wellbeing.
Rikke describes herself as a “sunshine person” - she wakes up naturally around 6 a.m., often before her alarm. Sleep is sacred, and she consistently gets 7-8 hours every night. In summer, she wakes with the light, while in winter she uses Philips Hue lamps that simulate sunrise in the hallway - she’s conscious about creating a gentle transition of light in the morning.
“I’ve learned that sleep is my goalkeeper. If it fails, the rest of the team collapses. Exercise is my striker - dopamine, strength, and endurance - but it all depends on the midfield working. For me, that’s digestion and nutrition. When everything plays together, that’s when I function as a human being.”
Although Rikke works at a fast pace, she’s found a rhythm that keeps her grounded. “I try to avoid my phone in the morning - I’d rather tune into myself than other people’s lives. Structure is everything, but there also has to be room for ‘it’s okay’. Health isn’t about being perfect - it’s about being consistent.” For Rikke, health is no longer about extremes, but about balance.
“When I was younger, health was something a bit obsessive. Now it’s just a natural part of my life. Second nature. I’ve learned deeply that healthy habits aren’t a solo sport - they’re a team effort. I win the day when all the pieces work together.”
